I am amazed that any where in the US that this kind of outrageous action by a government agency has been allowed. Why there is no larger outcry is baffling to me..damn glad I don't live in NY, and sure as hell will not be planning a trip there any longer, heaven forbid I get sick there and become part of their grand tracking scheme against my will...geesh.
Also didn't know Vermont already did this...won't be traveling there either.
Guess more research to see how much moreof this idiocy is occuring is now necessary.
So where are the ACLU and the Diabeteic organizations on this one..Is the NY government really too big to fight with--if that is the case..we need some smarter orgs with better attorneys...before the next group is targeted....

This disease is hard as an adult, but even worse, to have a child with it (thankfully I can only imagine that).

As a child I lived with a disease (not diabetes--didn't get my type 1 till I was an adult), and the worse part for me, was that it made you different... in a bad way.

Help spread the word, this disease is cureable...it just takes money. That takes awareness. Even if you can't afford to give money, help spread the word so that those who can give will.

So this should have posted yesterday..but due to either technical error or human errror (hmmm-really?) it did not. :-(

The first but not last blog from my smart phone I love. Now, with all the progres made in computers and phones..why for the 6K$ it costs for an insulin pump.....the additionl $$$ for CGMS that insurers are so ridiculously fighting...can't I just hook them all up by usb or bluetooth to my computer...and manage them all like the other devices in my life? They are after all,just as important; at least to those of us who are diabetic. It would make the arduous task of management easier for many of us. I realize I am no technical guru...but if $59 phones can do it, I don't understand why my medical equipment can't!

My opinion rant on hospitals and health care:

After 2 hospitalizations this year (this first since I was 8, except for childbearing)--hospitals are SCARY places (I thought so when I was 8 as well--but for much different reasons). The amount of non-caring, less than competent staff; unfortunately outweigh the good. I have talked to people who have been in the same hospital, and in other hosptials..some are better than others;but on a whole--the hospital systemis broken--and it is NOT just due to the uninsured...that is a bunch of blather that is part of the distractionary shell game of insurance companies and large corporate hospital systems.

How people who do not have family members there every minute of every day survive and get well, is amazing. I am fortuante enough to have a very caring family, who fought tooth and nail at times to be able to be with me....and the good nurses were greatful they were there to do things that didn'tr eally require them (good aides are scarce as well) and let themknow whennit was really urgent that they coem NOW; the less than good and truly terrible ones don't want family around to see what does (and doessn't) happen as it should.

More amazing is that the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and all the other support staff know it, and all claim nothing can be done about it. The beuracracy puts most companies to shame...and it is NOT about patient care---it is about the bottom line (profit)---and the staff by and large are not sharing in that bottom line savings, but suffering for it.

Insurers know too, but insurance companies are a rant of an entirely different nature---but as far as hospitals go--the insurance companies are only interested in who gives the biggest discounts so their bottom line is protected. And as long as the lawsuits don't outwiegh their discounts--no problem as far as they are concerned.

The worst off are patients who don't get proper care, next are the good doctors, nurses and other staff ---and yes there are some very very very good ones--and they unfortunately get tarnished due to the overwhelming numbers of the totally less than stellar and outright scary ones. They pay as big of a price as the patients---because they care and they can't take care of everyone---they have to be satisfied with taking care of who they are assigned to for a shift.

The people screaming about the health care system being broken because people are uninsured are missing the bigger point---what good is it to have insurance, if there are not competent institutions and people to care for you???

It makes me sick ow our society (not talking about the government-that is a different rant-this is about the everyday people failing to step up and do their part as a society) is yet again failing our soldiers and their families. You do not have to be in favor of the war to be of asssitance to those who are most impacted.
It is not so hard to thanks soldiers you see (this is free and requires no $$ imapct to you) , maybe buy a meal, some groceries, babysit (this also costs only some of your time), be an ear to listen when soldiers and/or their families just need to vent...
but alas, too many people have the "there'snothing in it for me" attitude..sad,sad, sad....

More and more, no matter which of the "wonderful" parcel services you use, things just don'tshow up on time! I have pretties that I want to finish..the new creations I have been promising, that need stuff to come (because I cannot buy it in town-I but local whenever possible/affordable) But these items, just flat aren't available in town....

And when they come from said parcelcompanies (although for me UPS has been the worst in the physical condition of the boxes), the boxes look like they have been used for practice at pensic or some such....service, real service, is becoming a thing of the past.

I have 3 pkgs of stuff "supposed" to show up today (but they have "supposed" to have been here before now and the deliver date keeps getting"updated")...so hopefully I can finish some of these new creations this weekend and get them posted/sold!

New creations coming soon----I promise!

NOT HARDLY! This is such tripe! Our kids had multiple computers and vidoe games while growing up. Both are avid readers, still went out and rode their bikes, built forts (indoors and out weather dependent). My son now teaches Marshal Arts and my daughter is quite an accomplished musician, playing the Violin and the Cello (and anything else she picks up really).
They never had time limits per say, but if we thought they had been inside too long they got kicked outside to go play; providing of course their homework and chores (yep they had those too) were done....and we were "mean" parents, even during the summer (school was not year round then) they had homework....

Our children grew up tech/computer savvy; we text each other now, email, phone, post pics on my space and spaces, and tribe net..blog about our families, and see each other in person.
Kids take parenting, limits, rules.....technology can't ruin our kids lives.... unless parent let it!

I beleive DRs do have the right to refuse services/treatmenst-telling them they have to provide services they beleive are immoral is restricing their freedomof religion...you can't have your cake an eat it too. The only thing required of an ER doc is not to let you die (unless of course you have a DNR or other medical instructions)
Many people take health care for granted. They do not know what hospital they want to be taken care of before there is an emergency (ie...if you go to a religious based hospital...you know your options will be limited)
It is the patients resposibilty to have done some homework--before they are ill or there is an emergency--when one has clear thought processes. Visit the hospitals..find out what there policies are...pick the one you want...get your directives in the case of an emergency on file..most hosptials will do this for free..some charge a small admisistrative fee...but your health and that of your family is worht it--right?
In non-emergency--screen your doctor...I ask lots of questions of the receptionist or nurse before making a first appointment and at the first visit with any dr I have a list of questions..I take a yellow legal pad with my questions-write the dr answers down...if itsnot a good fit I don't go back..I have fired more than one doc
We are the consumers...money talks...even the worst of most insurance plans has more than one doctor option--and you can challenge insruance companies..it is a hassle,but if you have very good, and documented reasons, you are likely to prevail
most people spend more time thinking about and researching a computer purchase than they do their own helath care options...consumers are part of the health care problem in the US

Pain free is good, brings a bit more normalcy, but a bit more infor would have been nice- will it store readings....meds, food. How large is the device? Will it need any special care? For those who have inquired..the reason there have been no new pretties is that my daughter is getting marrried in July (the 7th),and I'm making her wedding dress.....I will post pics after the wedding (we wouldn't want the groom to get a sneak peek)After ashort recovery time from the wedding (i need to clean my sewing room) there will be new pretties..I do still have plenty of stock in the ebay store (planning helps) but new stuff after the wedding I promise!

Just because they do it doesn't make it right! I just fired a Dr partially for this reason, her waiting room was nothing but one big advertisement! It is hard enough to fight insurance companies that pretend to have your best interest at heart..you shouldn't have to fight with your doctor to get proper care because of their tie to a pharma co (insurance co do this too--and that is probably even more dangerous!).

the reason for the lack of blogging--Not the job-its always whatever 70 they can get...but my daughter is getting married in July and I am making the dress. Hopefully we will get the patterns finished drafted this weekend and thet rail run out of cheap fabric cut...yes I do know about the best laid plans...but I am hopeful!!!

I am so happy its raining! Its a little on the cool side (but better than snow on the valley floor). The grass is happy, th plants are happy...my wallet is happy, because it will be another day we don't have to water. Oct is nice, becuase its not cold enough yet for the heater so the water bill goes down before the heating bill goes up! Entra mula to buy pretties!

I think it is time for a cup of Earl Grey Tea to compliment the weather. We got some of those new triangle bags--I still like real loose tea in an infuser the best..a proper cup of tea as my grandma used to say...but the triangle bags beat the flat bags hands down!

I wonder when the last time it rained on Mars was? Will they find out when the rovers get into this huge stratified crater???? Only time will tell...hope the little guys live long enough to let us know. They are so far past their 90 day life expectancy! I feel a pair of elf slippers calling to be made....they know the snow is coming!

I am not surprised when no one want to talk about pi, or string theory, super string theory, bubble theroy, chaos theory, quantum physics in general [What the bleep doesn't count because most people don't know what it is before they see it, and after they see is, unless one of the afore-mentioned "nerds" quickly loose interest], the magic/golden ratio, etc....
But this is the essence of exploring the Universe we live in, and it is not main stream conversation. But some stupid congressman who is within the normal 5% deviated public, [our "public" servants are but a cross section of the US; and as a whole-fully 5% of the general public is condsidered deviant of some sort] who has been accused of improper acts with a near adult (the reports vary from 16-19 years of age) is; Amazing, sad, irritating, disinheartening....
off to pout and decide what book to read next.... ans see if any new pics from mars have been posted yet..if you haven't gandered..they are truly AWESOME!!!!

Dental Cost Rant

I have what he says is really good dental insurance..100% of preventative, 75% of most, only 50% of major (that makes a lot of sense-the insuance you need to cover the expenses..pays the very least on what is the most expenive---geesh) and has a $3000/year cap.
1 root canal=$1100 (done by a specialis, not my regular dentist....he says that to keep it the most affordable [quit laughing!] specialization keeps the different technolcy and machinery needed down, and provides better results); medicating the tooth prior to the root canal $235; crown $955--geesh (only thing I can think of that is not profane) 1 freaking broken tooth...grrr
So why is it that Dental insurance..even the "good" dental insurance, covers so little; and dental work is sooooooo bloody expensive (partially the technology-and insurance is NOT keeping pace-I don't think they are even trying....why?)!?
And now that they are proving how tied it (dental health)is to your general physical health (gum disease=heart disease)--why isn't it considered a medical expense and covered by medical insurance?
They can make earphones that kill jet engine noise..why can't they make something that kills dental drill noise?!

This is so totally freakin unbeleivable. Pleding allegiance toa foreign nation is an act of sedition, teaching children to do so is treason. The teachers and Principal should be in Jail!

I agree with some of the others bloggers, home schooling looks more and more attractive all the time and I am really happy my children are no longer in school, and that my children will not stand for such behavior when they have childre.

So I have many questions that are not answered. The number of miles traveld is up, but what is the number of LICENSED drivers in proportion. Are people driving more miles, or are there more people driving less miles? What is the age factor? I personally am a seta-belt lover--mine saved my life, I have a friend however who lost her mother, because of a seat belt. Why is seat blet use the goverements choice???

Helmets...I have never driven a motorcycle..but rode with my husband until his back injury nixed the bike...he would never let me ride without a helmet, I have never seen him ride without a helmet. I have firends who drive motorcylces on both sides of this issue, and again I have to ask, why is it the governments choice??

We had three wheelers, well he did, nutil they decided the governmnent and ($^@^$(@ attorneys decided they were too dangerous...we had lots of fun out on the sand dunes..I had an Oddesy, simply because I was not comfortable on a 3 wheeler..not built for them...and yeah, I wore a helmet in ther too...hitting ones head on the roll bars hurts even with a helmet on!

Of course I beleive in a persons right to die when they are ready too...but the government doesn't allow that either... rnat for another day

I drove a dodge mini van (not sure what the real model name was..got t-boned by a 57 chevy truck on the drivers side..my seat belt and short legs saved my life...the idiot who hit me...was unlicensed un registered, with a sspended license, not wearing a seat belt and had no injuries...

I now drive a big truck..when we bought it we still had a daughter in schoo, and we needed to cart her instruments and those of her firends (those of you with children know this drill) now I wouldn't give it up-high gas prices and all (and amazingly those instruments still need to get carted occasionally-she is still at home going to college-but the trip are farther away..but It seems much safer that the alternative as it seems people just don't give a rats @@@ most of the time..they want to get there first no matter the cost..

and I really hate the message from the system administrator " Your mailbox is over its size limit", so I must go clean my mailbox before they turn me off!

Birthday Beading

I finally got all the beads I ordered for myself for my birthday. Oh, I got other neat stuff..and some that didn't get here..preorders don't always come on time..its the thought that counts..I have a ring mandrel and an oval bracelet mandrel...somewhere on a delayed ship....they will get here eventually.

So tonight, after too many iterations to count, my two BD necklaces are done..you can find them in my newest photo album.

So, I did stop to buy beads for a different project....and some *nice* lady was oogling my necklace..asked me how much it cost me to make...then proceeded to ask me to make her one for that same cost. I expalined to her that, 1) I do One-of-a kind pieces. (the closest i get to same pieces are the knitted wire line..and while they have the same shape..none are ever beaded the same) 2)Even if I wanted to repeat them, most have at least some unique beads in them, and 3) my labor costs $. She was very insulted..because "it just cant taake any real time or effort to string a bunch of beads together...she'd do it herself, but she just doesn't have the patience"... that was pretty much the end of our conversation. I so often hear things like this...people who think I should give them my ideas and my time for for free...amazing!

She'd have kittens if she knew what I charged for an originally deisgned, hand quilted quilt...there is something satidfying in that thought!

I dunno, I work in a place that has a lot of high IQ, type A personlaities...and most of us HATE (large) meetings, and do not se them as very effectve at all. up to four people seems manageable and productive, but after that sometimes it is just plain ridiculous....I end up, as do many of my counterparts..working (even if only in our minds) on other projects while listeneing to babble.

And group work at the college level really sucks..not all students are well motivated, and someones financial aid or scholarship should not be able to be put at risk by some dope whose parents are paying of his/her school who thinks nothing of blowing off an assignment (or many assignments) cause its no skin off their nose. That just ain't right. When your out of school and you are getting paid by someone else to follow their rules, its a different story...you can get off your butt and go get a different job...you don't have that option in college.

So I decided since I am really ready for winter (I do NOT like the heat) that I would have a Christmas in July sale in my store [www.indigopegasusBazaar.com]

I have made some, what is for us, traditional christmas spiders, some wire guardian angles (only one left) and assorted other goodies. I really like the way the red hat ornaments came out. Would like to do some in Svarsky crystals, but I haven't found a dark purple in a 6mm faceted cut yet...might be out there....

I think I will go turn the swamper on to get ahead of the heat..only got down to 67 last night and a;ready up to 72....looks like another 100+day! UGH

Hopefully the thunderstorms that are sure to come today or tomorrow will not start anymore fires!

So while I was driving to work via the post office this morning I was listening to the Gya Mantra (version by Diva Premal-my fav) and drove right by the PO...geesh..so since I was headed in the direction of a Starbucks (when are you not..really?-except in tim-buck-too?)I decided since I could drive by the place I needed to drop 13 parcels too..I definately needed more coffee!

So, the line was shorter than normal, moved faster than normal...when I got ot the PO turn (I was dreading becasue now it would be a left turn across a normally very busy 6 lanes...) there was not traffic...my left trun out..there was no traffic...then I was graced to see flying 4 red tailed hawks...got stopped at a stoplight and got to continue to watch..the light turned green...the flew off..they are alwasy so aswesome to watch....

if I hadn't missed the PO..and gone to SB I would have missed them..there is a reason for everything!!

It is very sad that NONE fo the news organizations are showing the awesome pictures from space, and talking about the benefits derived to the US and the world from space flight!

The other thing that is sad is the seeming uninterest of the population. It is so used to being spoonfed just what the media wants.

Do people even take the time anymore to look up into the night sky and marvel at the fact we live on a rock that circles a Sun in te huge vastness of space and realize just how small ther earth is in that perspective.

Wonder when we will meet some other race that comes from out there in that vastness, and whether that first meeting will be friendly or not? Yes I know, some people beleiuve this has alraeady happened-I ma one of those-but for those who don't beleive it..do they wonder?

And how can anyone beleive we are the only life in the vast universe out there?

How can we allow/afford to treat space travel as unimportant?

ok, think my coffee is done now...Its still dark out, so I think I will go enjoy my morning coffee outside under the stars and catch more of the NASA video later...
